Weird Classical Music Composers

Weird Classical Music Composers
Classical music is described as a music that “lasts a long time”. The complexity, form and execution of this type of music associates it with the genre of musical geniuses. Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Handel and Vivaldi are just some of the great composers in history.

However, being brilliant does not mean they don’t have hidden obsessions. As complex as classical music, so were some the composers.

Mozart
This famous father of the “Mozart Effect” is one weird man. He was known to have “scatology”, which is an obsession of farting and defecation. In a letter, when his mother suggested he farted, Mozart inserted his finger in his behind and sniffs it to make sure she’s right. Mozart was also asked to compose a song for the dead known as a requiem, which he said made him think about his own death. When Mozart fell ill, he continued working on the requiem and died before he could finish it. It was then performed at his funeral.

Hans Rott
He was an Australian composer and organist born in Vienna. He had a close relationship with his room mate Gustav Mahler while studying at the Conservatory. Rott submitted his first composition to a contest but was rejected by Brahms and told he has no talent in music. Rott was brought down by mental illness and sent to a mental hospital after a train incident in which he threatened a passenger with his revolver and claimed that Brahms filled the train with dynamite. Rott died at the age of 25 in 1884.

Alexander Scriabin
He was a Russian composer known for his composition piece Mysterium which he believed would bring the apocalypse and replace humanity with better beings. He also wrote “I Am God” in his diary and engaged in experiments where flying is involved. Mysterium was supposed to be played at the foot of the Himalayas, where there would be bells and perfumes to engage the senses where humanity can enter a new existence. Scriabin died of septicemia before he could finish his composition.

Frederic Chopin
He is a known Polish composer with many compositions. Before his death, he requested that his body be opened when he died and his heart returned to Poland. Chopin died two minutes before two o’clock in the morning. His death certificate stated that his cause of death was tuberculosis, which remains controversial.

Scandals and strange things do not only belong to modern artists and musicians, but it has been down since the days of their forefathers.
